August 25, 2002   ::  Handel and Monteverdi
In starting Aria 3, I'm finding myself drawn to Baroque composers for some reason. Maybe it's the rhythmic energy, or something about the melodies that sounds unconventional when put up against the war-horse arias of the the standard opera repetoire.

I've used Monteverdi before: Arianna, on the 2nd record. And the Baroque era was the mine from which I got my favorite of all the Aria tracks: Dido on the 1st record.

Mind you, I always say I'm going to do something very particular, and then find after four or five songs that I've veered off into an unexpected direction...
